Despite a dismal result last year, the United Kingdom is actually the fourth favourite to win Eurovision this time around.
The annual song contest takes place in Turin, Italy on Saturday May 14 this year, following Måneskin's victory with Zitti e Buoni in 2021. Some 26 countries will battle it out to become Eurovision champions, with France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Italy and the UK already automatically through to the grand final.
The remaining countries participate in one of the two semi-finals, with the best 10 from each going through to perform in the prestigious final - getting one step closer to Eurovision glory. Last year, the UK scored 'nul points' with James Newman's song Embers.

Italy took the crown with an impressive 524 points, giving the country its first Eurovision win since 1990. Runners-up France racked up 499 points, with Switzerland, Iceland and Ukraine coming third, fourth and fifth respectively.
This year, singer and musician Sam Ryder is representing the UK with his track SPACE MAN. The 32-year-old shot to fame when his cover songs went viral on TikTok in 2020. He became the most popular UK artist on the platform, accumulating more than 12 million followers.

The latest data from Betfair shows that Ukraine are the favourites to win Eurovision this year, at 4/6. The UK, meanwhile, are also 100/1 to repeat last year’s events by getting ‘nul points’.
