Channel Tunnel partially reopens but Eurostar still advises passengers to delay travel

Well, it's been quite a day for rail passengers hoping to take the train through the Channel Tunnel to either France or the UK.

Services in both directions were suspended for most of Tuesday due to a power supply problem and a broken down LeShuttle train which stopped in the tunnel.

The timing couldn't have been worse, impacting thousands of would-be travellers on both sides of the Channel who were aiming to reach end-of-the-year holiday destinations as 2025 draws to a close.

Many scrambled to find alternative means of transport while others had no choice but to wait it out.

Meanwhile, services have begun moving in both directions but with only one track open in the Channel Tunnel, Eurostar is still advising passengers to rebook on alternative days as delays are expected for the rest of Tuesday and potentially into Wednesday.

With things slowly beginning to return to normal, we're closing down our live coverage for the day but Euronews will continue to cover any major developments to this story.
