AC Milan have reportedly made an approach to appoint Andoni Iraola as their new manager.
The Spaniard is set to leave Bournemouth upon the expiration of his contract at the Vitality Stadium.
Iraola will be replaced on the Dorset coast by Marco Rose, who was announced as the successor earlier this season by the Cherries.
Iraola led Bournemouth to a Europa League finish in the Premier League, guiding his side to sixth in the table.
Had results on the final day gone their way, they would have secured Champions League football.
However, needing Manchester City to beat Aston Villa and Liverpool to beat Brentford, neither happened, and Bournemouth will play on the continent for the first time in their history, but in the secondary competition.
Iraola has been heavily linked all season with an exit, and when his departure was confirmed, rumours began to fly about where he might go next.
Standard Sport reported previously that he had been one of two standout contenders to take over the reins at Chelsea, while he was strongly reported to be on Manchester United’s shortlist as well.
Iraola lost out on the top job at Stamford Bridge to his compatriot Xabi Alonso, who was confirmed as the Blues’ next manager after his January departure from Real Madrid.
Now, Sky Sports are reporting that Iraola has another suitor, in the form of AC Milan.
The Serie A side oversaw a mass clearout upon the conclusion of their league campaign, parting company with manager Massimiliano Allegri, while also sacking sporting directors Igli Tare and Geoffrey Moncada as well as CEO Giorgio Furlani.
Those decisions were made after the Rossoneri missed out on Champions League qualification, finishing fifth in the Italian top flight.
Milan were beaten on the final day by Cagliari, and the result saw Como leapfrog them into the top four as Cesc Fabregas secured his side a place in Europe’s top competition next term.
