Europe's largest video arcade is in Greater Manchester and it just got even bigger

It was already Europe's largest video arcade and now it's just got even bigger. Arcade Club Bury is packed with hundreds of retro and modern machines loved by young and old.

We first reported on it last year as players were flocking to the attraction once it reopened after lockdown. Nothing short of a gamer's paradise, Ela Mill hosts more than 400 machines - from classic and modern arcade games, to pinball machines and so much more.

There's everything from Pac-Man and Space Invaders to Donkey Kong and Sega Rally and kids can play their modern favourites like Fortnite and Rocket League.

And now the place has just got even bigger - with the addition of a fourth floor.

New games include Agent VR, Sega’s newest virtual reality arcade game, and there are new rhythm games including Gitadora guitars and drums and Dance Revolution.

There's also Scotto, a Japanese beer pong style arcade game, as well as Mario Kart, pool tables, Speed of Light and more.

The beauty is that once you've paid the entry fee - £8 for kids and £16 for adults (or £40 for a family) - you can play on whatever you like for as long as you like.

And opening hours have been extended for the school holidays, with the place opening from 11am on Thursdays and Fridays, as well as at weekends.

Families are welcome at all times, except for Friday evenings, when it's adults-only after 6pm.

Born out of a passion for classic gaming and arcade machines, the Arcade Club has grown from a small room to a converted mill in just a few short years.

It started out as a private collection of 30 arcade machines in the back room of a computer shop before moving to a warehouse in Haslingden, then moving to even bigger premises in Bury.

As Europe's largest video arcade, visitors are invited to 'experience long lost classics, dance floors, rhythm games, bizarre rarities and brand new imports you wont find anywhere else'.

Adam Sharples, manager of Arcade Club Bury, said: "There's nothing else like this for families in Greater Manchester. With other places you tend to have a bar with an arcade inside it, but we're an arcade that happens to have a bar.

"We’ve extended our Bury venue by another floor so we now have four in total, meaning more games at the same amazing price."

There's a cafe serving the likes of pizza, burgers and hot dogs, from £3, and three licensed bars.
