Arsenal will face Sporting CP in the Europa League round of 16. The Gunners have been handed a difficult draw with Sporting having dropped down from the Champions League after finishing third in their group earlier this season.
Arsenal may look to learn from their north London rivals Tottenham who were one of the teams in Sporting's Champions League group. The Portuguese club beat FC Midtjylland 4-0 on aggregate in the round of 32 stage to progress into the last 16.
The Gunners qualified for the last 16 as group winners after finishing above PSV Eindhoven, Bodo/Glimt and FC Zurich. The round of 16 games take place next month with the first-leg of the ties scheduled to take place on Thursday, March 9 whilst the second leg will take place a week later.

The first leg away against Sporting will come after the Gunners' trip to Anfield to face Liverpool. Arsenal's trip to West Ham is likely to be moved to Sunday afternoon, with a home fixture against Southampton following the home tie.
Arsenal could not have faced Manchester United in the round of 16 given that the two teams are both from the same association. If both Premier League sides progress into the quarter-finals, then the Gunners could face Erik ten Hag's side for the third time this season after facing them twice in the Premier League already.
United will face Spanish opposition once again after beating Barcelona 4-3 on aggregate in the round of 32 after being drawn against Real Betis in the last 16. The full Europa League round of 16 draw is below:
