Europa League draw LIVE!
A thrilling play-off round has laid waste to a number of big teams in Europe’s second-tier competition to leave both Arsenal and Manchester United as favourites to win the competition as the knockout stage proper takes shape.
United produced a stirring comeback on Thursday night to knock out LaLiga leaders Barcelona, with manager Erik ten Hag’s changes after Robert Lewandowski’s first-half penalty proving pivotal. A thrilling tie ended 4-3 in United’s favour after a second-leg victory Ten Hag described as his best at the club. Meanwhile, Ajax were knocked out by Union Berlin and Monaco were eliminated by Bayer Leverkusen in further surprise results, as Juventus and Roma secured their own spots in the last-16 stage.
The group winners now join the mix with Arsenal the best of the bunch, though are still likely to face a tough draw with the Champions League dropouts also now in the fray. The Gunners will avoid English rival United, at least, until the quarter-finals. Follow the draw LIVE below with our dedicated blog.
