Euro 2025: Teen denies sending racist message to Lionesses star

  • Aaryan Aggarwal, 19, has pleaded not guilty to sending a racially abusive message to England footballer Jess Carter during last year's Women's Euros.
  • Prosecutor Grace Court told Chelmsford Magistrates' Court that Carter received the message containing a racial slur on 17 July after England beat Sweden.
  • The defendant, from Chigwell in Essex, faces trial at Cambridge Magistrates' Court on 3 October next year.
  • Carter previously spoke about how online racist abuse shattered her confidence and left her scared to leave her hotel room during the tournament.
  • Earlier this year, a 60-year-old man received a suspended sentence after pleading guilty to posting separate racist abuse on Carter's TikTok account.
