The European Commission on Thursday fined Google a total of €890 million for breaching the bloc’s Digital Markets Act by restricting customer access to its competitors' services. The move risks escalating tensions with US President Donald Trump, who has repeatedly accused the EU of targeting US tech firms and has threatened retaliatory tariffs.

The European Union on Thursday hit Google with fines totaling €890 million ($1 billion), in a move that risks escalating tensions with the United States.
