Not only that, on Saturday we are to expect thunder and lightning - when the meteor is meant to peak and on the day of the King's Coronation.
But what do we know about it and when can we see it? Here is what you need to know.
Eta Aquariid meteor shower 2023 - what is it?
The annual Eta Aquarids typically fall between April 19 and May 28, and the shower can include up to 60 meteors per hour at its peak.
At its peak, they can produce up to 50 meteors per hour, but here in the Northern Hemisphere, we’re likely to see about 30 per hour.
According to NASA, the Eta Aquarids are pieces of rock that have fallen off Halley's Comet, which is visible from Earth approximately every 76 years. Eventually it crumbles as it passes the sun due to the star's intense heat with the pieces that fall off leaving a trail.
Halley's Comet was last seen from our planet in 1986 and won't be visible again until the middle of 2061. So we have a little while yet before we can see that comet.
Eta Aquariid meteor shower 2023 - when it will peak
According to Royal Museums Greenwich (RMG), the Eta Aquariid meteor shower is active between April19 and May 28 2023.
However it is set to peak in just a few days time between midnight and dawn on May 6.
This shower favours the Southern Hemisphere and will appear low in the sky for northerly latitudes (such as the UK) in the early predawn hours.
Nevertheless, it should still be possible to see the shower in the eastern sky, even when the radiant is below the horizon.
