BORIS Johnson had some prime ministerial duties to fulfil on Monday. Despite all the big talk of getting on with the job, he chose to ignore them.
The Tory leader had been due to welcome Estonia’s prime minister, Kaja Kallas, to Downing Street to talk about strengthening Nato against Russian aggression.
Ordinarily, a UK prime minister would meet their allied counterparts on the doorstep of No 10 for a photo opportunity.
Unfortunately, Johnson was a little tied up dealing with a full-scale civil war inside his party – and obviously didn’t fancy facing the cameras.
Instead, he broke protocol (something which people in Northern Ireland will no doubt have clocked).
The Tory leader left Kallas on the No 10 doorstep to awkwardly wave at the cameras herself – accidentally imitating the classic photo of the famous building’s new incumbents after a General Election win.
Picking up on the news, satire site Le Chou wrote on Twitter: “Estonia’s Popular PM @KajaKallas Quits Job, Replaces Sinking Boris Johnson At Head Of UK Government.”
It shared a photo of Kallas on Downing Street – complete with the Union flag bunting which Johnson hadn’t had taken down before his own MPs rebelled against him.

Sharing the post on Twitter, the Estonian leader diplomatically added only a smiling emoji.
Channel 4’s Krishnan Guru-Murthy quipped: “Not so much breaking as side-splitting news…”
“We wish!” former LibDem MEP Catherine Bearder added.
Nothing against Kallas, but Scotland’s had enough of being ruled by people from London thanks, regardless of who’s in charge.
