Brilliant young Korean violinist Esther Yoo will join the Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra in a concert at the Main Hall of Thailand Cultural Centre, Ratchadaphisek Road, tomorrow at 7.30pm.

Presented by the Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra Foundation under the patronage of HRH Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya, the concert will see her perform one of the most tuneful concertos in the repertoire, Samuel Barber's Violin Concerto In G Major.

Conducted by frequent visiting maestro Charles Olivier-Munroe, the evening programme will also include Leonard Bernstein's West Side Story in a novel suite arrangement by Jack Mason, and a wonderful large-scale symphonic work by Josef Suk titled Pohádka.

Born in the US and raised in Europe, Yoo made her concert debut when she was eight years old. She first got international attention in 2010, becoming the youngest prize-winner of the 10th International Jean Sibelius Competition at the age of 16. She has since performed as a soloist with numerous ensembles.

She was also active in the UK, becoming a BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artist in 2014 and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra's inaugural artist-in-residence in 2018.

She has recorded the Sibelius, Glazunov and Tchaikovsky concertos for Deutsche Grammophon, and will soon also release the Bruch and Barber concertos.

Tickets cost 600, 1,000, 1,500, 2,000 and 2,500 baht (half price for students and seniors aged 60 or above) and can be purchased from thaiticketmajor.com (call 02-262-3456).
