ESPN’s Football Power Index predicted the New England Patriots will have the first overall selection in the 2025 NFL draft.
ESPN lists the Patriots’ average draft position at 2.9. They are given a 27.5 percent chance to get the top selection. They have great odds to get either a top-five pick or a top-10 pick with the team sitting at an 89.8 percent chance to earn a top-five selection and a 99.8% chance to earn a top-10 selection.
After dropping last week’s loss to the Indianapolis Colts, the Patriots sit with a 3-10 record on the year, which is good enough for last place in the AFC East.
Despite the struggles, the team has shown some bright spots, headlined by quarterback Drake Maye and second-year cornerback Christian Gonzalez.
They could have their choice of any college prospect with the first overall pick. Colorado wide receiver Travis Hunter and LSU offensive tackle Will Campbell could be potential fits for the Patriots.
Whatever they decide must be a home run draft selection. It’s win-now mode with Maye under center, and the team can’t afford to miss on a top pick.
