ESPN to Soon Part Ways With Another Big-Name Basketball Analyst, per Report

As ESPN continues its series of big-name layoffs, another well-known basketball analyst is reportedly unlikely to return to the network: former eight-time All-Star Vince Carter.

Carter, who’s been with the network for three years following the conclusion of his 22-year playing career, reportedly “fits the bill” as the type of on-air talent ESPN has cut ties with in recent weeks, according to Michael McCarthy of Front Office Sports. Carter’s contract is set to expire in September.

The 46-year-old appears on various ESPN programming, such as NBA Countdown, NBA Today, Get Up, First Take and College GameDay.

Carter would join Jeff Van Gundy as another high-profile talent to leave ESPN as part of the company’s cost-cutting efforts. Van Gundy, who was part of the network’s top broadcast team alongside Mark Jackson and Mike Breen, was laid off last week after 16 years with the company. Other notable names that have been let go by ESPN include Todd McShay, Suzy Kolber, Steve Young and Jalen Rose.
