Michigan State has had the week off so far but that doesn’t mean they aren’t losing ground, according to ESPN’s Joe Lunardi.
Lunardi has been releasing his famous “Bracketology” NCAA Tournament projections for months, and to no surprise Michigan State is in the field of 68. The Spartans are one of 8 teams Lunardi currently has dancing this upcoming March.
Check out which Big Ten teams Lunardi has listed in his latest batch of “Bracketology” below:
Illinois
Seed / Region: No. 5 seed in Midwest Region
First Round Opponent: No. 12 seed Liberty
Indiana
Seed / Region: No. 5 seed in East Region
First Round Opponent: No. 12 seed Kent State

Michigan State
Seed / Region: No. 8 seed in Midwest Region
First Round Opponent: No. 9 seed Pitt
Thoughts on Draw: In a week’s time, Michigan State has dropped from a No. 6 seed and favorable path to the Sweet 16 to an No. 8 seed and tough draw to even make it out of the first round. The Spartans still matchup nicely with Pitt (as I said last week) but facing No. 1 seed Alabama again in the second round would be a tough draw for the green-and-white. Michigan State wants to avoid the No. 8 / 9 seed matchup if possible as the path to the Sweet 16 becomes much harder in that placement.

2023 NCAA Tournament Bracketology https://t.co/OvAOuBEhp8. 🏀🏀 All we know for sure in terms of No. 1 seeds is that Purdue and Alabama are as solid as can be. Houston and Kansas put themselves in a tenuous position with home-court losses this past weekend,…
