A SNAKE has been seen on the loose in Glasgow city centre trying to bite shoppers.
The reptile was seen slithering on Argyle Street, outside the entrance to the St Enoch Shopping Centre on Wednesday.
Video footage shared on TikTok shows the orange creature lunging at people's ankles as they walked by.
The user who shared the footage commented that the "poor wee thing must be terrified".
The snake was subsequently taken away in a cardboard box, handed over to security staff at St Enoch's, before being collected by the SSPCA.
It has since been taken to the SSPCA animal rescue and rehoming centre in Cardonald.
It is unclear how the snake ended up in the city centre.
Social media users expressed concern over the incident, with one saying: "This has made me so raging. The wee soul is in fight or flight."
Another wrote: "Don’t like snakes but it shouldn’t be left there the poor thing will be terrified hope it’s okay".
An SSPCA spokesperson said: "I can confirm that an Animal Rescue Officer from the Scottish SPCA attended and collected the snake after a member of the public handed it into security at St Enoch Shopping Centre in Glasgow on August 12.
"It was then taken to our Glasgow Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre in Cardonald where it is now being cared for by the team."
