Escaped cattle close major road in Cardiff

Escaped cattle from a farm in Cardiff have caused traffic mayhem at a busy roundabout in the city. Cows from a nearby farm in the Vale of Glamorgan had escaped onto the A4232 heading from Leckwith to Culverhouse Cross on Friday evening, drawing a heavy police presence.

Multiple police vehicles attended the scene at 7.30pm and the exit at the A4232 was closed for an hour while police and workers from the farm attempted to move the cows back towards Leckwith Road. Farmers directed the cattle up the hill at Leckwith Road along with police.

Closure at the busy A4232 had brought traffic at the roundabout next to the Asda in Leckwith to a standstill, but traffic began moving freely again at about 8.40pm.

The A4232 was reopened by 8.40pm, and by 9pm the cattle had been returned to the farm. As of 9pm on Friday the Leckwith Road exit and entrance remained closed.
