Erling Haaland to Man City transfer details made Borussia Dortmund adviser "pass out"

Manchester City appear to be growing closer to securing a deal to sign Norwegian striker Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund this summer in what is set to be a huge money move for one of world football’s most sought after players.

The 21-year-old has been chased by the majority of Europe’s elite in recent months as his contract has begun to run down in Germany, with his current deal having just over one year remaining on it, while he has not agreed any new terms. And it now looks as though Haaland’s services are set to be acquired by Pep Guardiola ’s side, with the huge financial details of the deal leading to Dortmund’s adviser, Matthias Sammer, "passing out" in shock.

When asked if a deal had already been agreed for Haaland, Sammer, speaking on Amazon Prime, said: “I don’t know. I was fully focused on this match [ Manchester United v Atletico Madrid]. I didn’t hear anything today, yesterday, the day before yesterday. I know City is after him. The numbers – I had whiplash! I passed out. My wife picked me up again. Accordingly, it is possible.”

Dortmund signed Haaland for just €20 million from Red Bull Salzburg in 2019 but are set to sell him on for far more than that, and City will be one of few clubs who have the financial backing to match his price tag. However, Haaland has a £63 million release clause in his contract, which is nowhere near his true worth, meaning that City can grab him for an absolute steal if they activate it by April 30, according to German newspaper Bild.

Yet they are set to make up for the small amount they will pay for him by offering him an eye-watering salary which will make him the highest paid player in Premier League history, which according to the Daily Mail, is worth £500,000-a-week. The Norwegian international has sky-rocketed himself to stardom at such a young age and he is now set to reap the rewards of his highly impressive career so far, which has seen him plunder endless amounts of goals in recent years.

Will Erling Haaland end up at Man City next season? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.

After grabbing the attention of the world with 28 goals in 22 appearances for Red Bull Salzburg in the first half of 2019-20, Dortmund quickly moved to secure his services, before he went on to score a further 16 goals in 18 appearances in all competitions for the German side in the second half of the same campaign.

41 goals in 41 appearances followed last season, as Dortmund won the DFB Pokal, while he has once again continued to find the back of the net in the current campaign with 23 goals in 21 appearances, meaning he has scored 81 times in 81 games in Germany since his arrival. And now it seems as though all signs point to Manchester for Haaland, and it is even thought that if a deal is to be sorted soon, then an announcement on the official agreement for the Norwegian could be made by the end of the month.
