Why Haaland was substituted against Scotland
Norway head coach Stale Solbakken admitted that City striker Erling Haaland requested to be taken off during Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Scotland because he had 'run out of steam'. Haaland was taken off with 84 minutes on the clock, at which point Norway were 1-0 up as a result of his well-struck 61st-minute penalty.
It looked as though his effort from 12 yards was going to be enough to secure Norway their first victory of their 2024 European Championship qualifying campaign. However, Scotland staged a dramatic comeback, scoring twice in the last three minutes to flip the game on its head and take all three points.
That, unsurprisingly, resulted in Solbakken being criticised for taking Haaland, who is Norway's biggest threat, off with less than 10 minutes of normal time remaining. However, the former Wolves boss outlined that the decision was made following instructions from the City ace.

Maresca explains why he swapped City for Leicester
Former City assistant boss Enzo Maresca has revealed that Pep Guardiola was aware of his determination to return to management following his decision to become Leicester City's new boss. The Foxes, who were relegated to the Championship this season, appointed the Italian as Dean Smith's successor on Friday evening.
He will now be tasked with trying to build a squad capable of pushing for a return to the Premier League at the first attempt in 2023/24. The Foxes are the pre-season favourites to win the Championship title next term and are widely expected to have a tidy transfer budget.
Maresca's new venture at the King Power Stadium marks his first managerial post since leaving Italian club Parma back in November 2021. Prior to accepting the Leicester job last week, that was his only experience of being the manager of a first-team squad at any club.
