Erling Haaland reveals gift from 'Everton fans' after Premier League record

Some Everton supporters awarded Manchester City striker Erling Haaland with a trophy after Sunday's match between the two sides at Goodison Park.

Haaland broke Liverpool's Mohamed Salah's record of 32 goals in a 38-game Premier League season and now holds the record for the most strikes in a single league campaign.

Former striker Andy Cole previously held the record for the most goals with 34, but that came in a 42-game campaign. Haaland has surpassed the ex-Manchester United and Newcastle United star.

The Norwegian scored City's second goal of the afternoon on Sunday as they came away with a 3-0 victory to take them to within just one win of their third consecutive league title.

Everton fans recognised the superb season the 22-year-old is having by handing him a trophy of a football boot with a small plaque saying: "E Haaland, record Premier League goals, from Everton fans."

Haaland posted a picture of the trophy on his Instagram story with the captain: "Thank you" and a blue love heart emoji.
