Erling Haaland's dad has hinted that his son may leave Manchester City in three years' time in a bid to win more trophies across Europe - potentially following a similar path to Cristiano Ronaldo.
The 22-year-old has made an excellent start to life in English football following his big-money move from Borussia Dortmund in the summer, scoring 18 times in 13 Premier League appearances to date. Haaland has chipped in with a further five goals in the Champions League as City aim to win the trophy for the first time in their history.
However, Alfie Haaland, who also represented City, has claimed that his son could leave the Etihad sooner than City fans would want. Haaland currently has four-and-a-half years left on his contract, which would take him up to the end of the 2026/27 season.
Speaking to France Football (via DAZN ), the 50-year-old admitted that his son could stay until the latter stages of his career but a move away would not faze him either. "Erling could stay at City for 15 years because he is very happy and we are talking about a huge club," he said.
"But my impression is that he wants to demonstrate that he can win at any of the big leagues. He was in Germany for two-and-a-half years and he could do something like that in his future.
"Staying in the Premier League for three years and then going to Italy, Spain or France. There's nothing firm about it, but it's a possibility because Erling is capable of being a winner in any team."

Haaland could follow a similar path to Ronaldo, who initially left Manchester United in 2009 in a bid to claim more major honours in another country as he moved to Real Madrid in a record-breaking deal. The Portuguese superstar won the Premier League on three occasions at Old Trafford, before moving to Los Blancos in a deal worth £80million.
Ronaldo ended up winning countless individual and team honours at the Santiago Bernabeu, claiming two LaLiga titles, two Copa del Rey's and four Champions League winners' medals. In his time at Real, Ronaldo scored 450 goals in 438 matches and can be considered as one of the greatest players in the club's history.
Having won every major honour he could in Spain, Ronaldo moved across to Italy for his next adventure as he made the move to Juventus in 2018. The 37-year-old's time in Turin can also be counted as a massive success, given the fact he won another league title - twice in fact - as well as lifting the Coppa Italia in his final season at the club.
Ronaldo's rollercoaster career then saw him swap Italy for England once again as he returned to United, 12 years after leaving for Real Madrid. However, his second spell at the Red Devils didn't exactly go to plan, with the forward's time at the club ending by mutual agreement last month after scoring 27 goals in 54 appearances.
