In his absence, Julian Alvarez was given the nod up front but City lacked their usual killer instinct as they had to do without prolific striker Haaland, who has netted 17 league goals this season.
It took a moment of genius from De Bruyne to secure the win and move his side one point clear at the top of the Premier League. On 49 minutes, the Belgian curled home a 25-yard free-kick to break the stubborn Foxes’ resistance and send the away end into raptures.
