Erling Haaland has been involved in talks with Zinedine Zidane that coud bolster his chances of a move to Real Madrid.
The Borussia Dortmund star is expected to leave Germany this summer with Los Blancos among those keen.
Both Manchester clubs and Barcelona have also been touted as possible destinations.
A sponsorship switch could now put Madrid in pole position however as Haaland looks to swap Nike for Adidas.
The Norwegian has been with the American brand for several years but he, his father and Zidane have held discussions with Adidas regarding a move, reports Bild.
Zidane is Haaland's childhood idol and a legendary figure at the Bernabeu.

Los Blancos are sponsored by Adidas so, were Haaland to join the brand, a switch to the Spanish capital would appear even more obvious.
Haaland and Kylian Mbappe are both on the club's radar this summer with both players expected to be on the market.
The former has a £65m reported release clause whilst the PSG star will be a free agent at the end of the season.
Dortmund have continued to rebuff talk of Haaland leaving them for lengthy periods, but are now pushing their star man for an answer on his future.
“The last six months I have chosen not to say anything out of respect for Dortmund, but now the club has started to press me into making a decision,” Haaland said last month.
“All I want to do is play football. But they press me … about my future, so that means I have to make a decision soon.”
He continued: “That is what they [Dortmund] want. It means things will happen now. They have started to put a lot of pressure on me, and I have to accept that … so now is the time to get things started."
The forward claimed it had been his plan to focus on his football, but Dortmund's quest for answers has changed the landscape.
Haaland added: “I have said from the beginning that I want to focus on football, because that is when I am at my best. But I can’t do that now.”
The Norwegian has enjoyed a rapid rise since making his name at Red Bull Salzburg.
Haaland has scored 80 times in 79 outings for the Bundesliga outfit since joining them in January 2020.
He has continued to showcase his quality on the Champions League stage, smashing numerous records, but will play in the Europa League for the remainder of the campaign.
