Erling Haaland fires 'reset' warning at Leeds United ahead of Premier League return

Manchester City star Erling Haaland has sent a message to Leeds United, warning the Whites that City will 'hit the ground running' when the Premier League returns after the World Cup.

The self-proclaimed Whites fan already has 18 goals in just 12 league appearances this season after joining City from Borussia Dortmund in the summer and seems set to break all kinds of English top-flight records.

What's even worse for the Whites is that Haaland hasn't even been at this year's World Cup in Qatar after Norway missed out on qualification, meaning he's had ample time to keep fit, and get even stronger, during the winter break.

The 22-year-old was born in Leeds during his father Alfie's time with the club in 2000 and claims that although their training camp in Abu Dhabi has been a good reset, he 'can't wait' for the league to restart.

"The break has been positive. I’ve had the chance to rest, to take my mind off football for a few weeks and put myself in the best possible place to return.

"I can’t wait for it to start again. I’m raring to go."

The prolific striker already has three hattricks in the Premier League, becoming the quickest player in Premier League history to do so, having done it in eight league games - beating Michael Owen's previous record by 40 matches.

However, he highlights that while a lot of the attention will be back on him, it's up to the entire squad to get the results they need to chase down league-leaders Arsenal and wants to start by putting away the Whites.

"But it’s not about me. It’s about the team, how we’re performing and the second half of the season is the most important now.

"We’ve put ourselves in a good position and we’ve had lot of strong performances, but we’re second in the league and that’s not where we want to finish.

"We have to hit the ground running when we return because we have some tough games across the different competitions and we want to win them all."
