Erik ten Hag set to copy Pep Guardiola blueprint in bid to solve calamitous Man Utd start

Erik ten Hag now considers Pep Guardiola a rival given the Spaniard has long been in the Manchester City hot seat, while the Dutchman can be found in the same role at Old Trafford.

However, the pair have previously worked particularly closely with each other at Bayern Munich. Guardiola was in charge of the Bavarian giants' first-team, while Ten Hag took charge of the reserves. It handed the future Red Devils boss the chance to see his future fellow Manchester resident operate up close.

United boss Ten Hag has outlined the one mistake his former Bayern colleague has made since upping sticks to the Etihad back in 2016. He said: "Only once in his career has Pep made a mistake – in his first year at Manchester City, when he completely underestimated the power and speed of the Premier League.
