Erik ten Hag says Marcus Rashford is “unstoppable” due to his movement, skill and finishing abilities and has backed him to shine against any team in the world.
The Manchester United striker is the club’s top scorer having netted 24 times prior to Thursday’s Europa League play-off second leg against Barcelona. United hero Robin van Persie sat down with Ten Hag ahead of the fixture to preview the Old Trafford clash.
The former Netherlands star asked the Reds manager about his star striker, who started his 30th game of the season against the La Liga leaders. “He was unstoppable against Barcelona [in the first leg],” Ten Hag said on BT Sport.

“With his movements and skills and finishing capabilities, it's very difficult to play against him. Now it's about doing that every game to be unstoppable against any team in the world."
Rashford is on track to break the 30-goal mark this season and would be the first United player to do so in a single season since Van Persie, during the 2012/13 title-winning campaign.
Speaking in the build-up to the match on BT Sport, Van Persie cast his own verdict on Rashford, hailing his mindset. “Rashford is a unique talent, we could all see that from an early age," he said.
“He is now at a stage where it doesn’t matter for him who he plays. If it’s Barcelona, if it’s in England, if it’s a cup game, he can trust his own qualities. Physically he’s very strong, mentally he’s very confident, and that is connected to Erik ten Hag.
“He gives him the confidence and he gives him the stage, so for him it’s just a matter of being fit, enjoying the game and it doesn’t matter against who, he will do the job.”
