It’s been a good week for Ten Hag, with the 52-year-old signing off from Ajax in style as his current side wrapped up yet another league title with an emphatic 5-0 win over Heerenveen. With his final task now complete, attention can begin to turn to his next one at United.

And ahead of his arrival at Old Trafford, the Dutchman has given an insight into his interview for the manager’s job. There was also a glimpse into what United fans can expect with an exciting promise about the future.
De Jong has already told United his best position
Ten Hag could well be joined at United by one of his former protégés from his time in Amsterdam. The Manchester Evening News understands United have contacted Barcelona about Frenkie de Jong’s potential availability ahead of the summer.
United will be in need of at least one new midfielder in the transfer window, with Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic – among others – set to leave at the end of the season. It’s been an area of concern for some time now, with their current options having disappointed this season.
De Jong is not renowned solely for his defensive contributions, which United are certainly in need of. That being said, the Netherlands international has given United a good indication of his best position should he make the move to Old Trafford.
