Manchester United want to keep Eric Ramsay as part of Erik ten Hag's backroom staff, despite the coach being on the shortlist to take over as Barnsley's next manager.
United are aware of the interest in the 30-year-old, who is considered one of the most promising young coaches in the game, but are keen to retain his services next season.
Ramsay was appointed as a coach focusing on set-pieces and technical skills a year ago and although there has been a churn in backroom staff over the last 12 months, United want to keep Ramsay to work with Ten Hag.

He is thought to be on the shortlist to take over at Oakwell and if an approach is made United will hold discussions with Ramsay. Kieran McKenna was allowed to leave the club in December when he made his interest in taking over as Ipswich Town boss clear.
If Ramsay stays he will work with Ten Hag's assistants Mitchell van der Gaag and Steve McClaren, with the new manager now finalising his backroom staff and detailing who will be involved in running training sessions at Carrington.
Van der Gaag and McClaren were considered key appointments for Ten Hag, but the 52-year-old is set to bring in more new arrivals over the next few weeks as he concludes the make-up of his staff.
There has been a significant turnover in staff at United's training ground over the previous year. Michael Carrick left after a three-game stint as caretaker manager following the departure of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, before McKenna left to join Ipswich and took Martyn Pert with him as assistant manager.
Ralf Rangnick struggled to appoint his favoured coaches as a result of taking over mid-season and finding staff who would fulfil visa requirements. He did bring in Chris Armas, Ewan Sharp and sports psychologist Sascha Lense, but all three have now left the club.
Mike Phelan remained from the Solskjaer era and Rangnick leant on him more as the season progressed, but the 59-year-old has been told he will have no part to play in the first-team set-up under Ten Hag and discussions over an exit are continuing with United.
Ten Hag is set to retain faith in the existing goalkeeping coaches Richard Hartis and Craig Mawson, rather than bringing in someone from outside. At least one of United's existing goalkeeping coaches had made enquiries with other clubs amid fears they would be replaced if Ten Hag brought his own man in.
