Erik ten Hag promised Manchester United will “give everything” to wreck Manchester City's Treble bid after setting up an FA Cup final showdown with their local rivals.
Victor Lindelof scored the decisive spot-kick in a penalty shoot-out to send United into a Wembley showdown with Pep Guardiola's side on June 3 – the first all-Manchester final. Asked about United's chances of beating City - who are aiming to match their rivals' 1999 Treble haul - Ten Hag said: “We will have to play the perfect game.
“It was the perfect game we played this season when we beat them and we have to go again, we know that. We will give everything and when I say everything, that is everything - the fans can rely on that.
”We will do everything to give them the second trophy - everything I have, everything the team have and everything the staff have, to get it done. We can do it, because we have proved it already. It’s not easy though, because they're a great team, but we also have a great team.”
Penalty hero Lindelof said: "It felt great scoring the winning penalty. It was a great relief and we're glad to be in the final. I have confidence in myself, I knew which penalty I wanted to take and that's what I did.”
United goalkeeper David De Gea said: "There's still a long way to go to the final, but it will be a big game against one of the best teams in the world. We showed at home we can beat City, so let's hope.
"We're on the right track. One trophy, another final and fighting for the top four. It's not enough, but it's a big step from last season."
Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi said: "We're disappointed and very sad. We played a great game. It's sad for us and for our fans. But we have to close this page and think about the next game on Wednesday. We have a lot of games left and we want to get into Europe."
