Erik ten Hag says he has been impressed with the progress Manchester United have made in pre-season as he gears up for his first season in charge of the club.
United began their summer schedule with a thumping 4-0 win over Liverpool in Thailand, before they went on to beat both Melbourne Victory and Crystal Palace in Melbourne.
Ten Hag's side completed their first leg of the tour with a 2-2 draw against Aston Villa on Saturday and will take to the field twice next weekend before their season starts against Brighton the following week.
PLAYER RATINGS: Sancho and Fred good vs Aston Villa
United remain unbeaten under the new manager and, although results are not the most important aspect of the summer preparations, Ten Hag admits he has been impressed with the way his side have played.
"From the players, from the team, I think we have made a lot of progress," he told MUTV after the Villa draw. "I will say there have been a lot of positive aspects and, in the end, also a setback, and that is also part of the season because a season is not always getting up. You will also have setbacks that you have to deal with."
When asked to give his verdict on the 2-2 draw with Villa, in which his side squandered a two-goal lead, he added: "First-half decent performance, 2-0 up. And second-half we came bad out of the dressing room, we had control of that game and then we gave it away. That is not good, so that is a lesson."
