Manchester United face two huge games in the space of four days this week. Though the matches may not end up defining their season, the results - and Erik ten Hag's tactical approaches - may offer a big clue as to how United tackle the run-in.
United host Barcelona in the second leg of their Europa League play-off tie after a thrilling 2-2 draw at Camp Nou last week. The fact the only reward on offer is a last-16 Europa spot did not dampen what proved to be an electric contest, and United will be hoping for another famous European night at Old Trafford on Thursday. Then there is the small matter of the Carabao Cup Final on Sunday.
United face Newcastle at Wembley; a fantastic chance to lift the club's first piece of silverware in six years. While Ten Hag's approach of rarely fielding a weakened team has up until now reaped dividends, two huge matches in the space of four days will put his tactics into focus. It seems likely United will be full strength for Barcelona given Ten Hag's European aspirations, along with the fear a defeat could dent confidence days before Wembley. Still, if Ten Hag names a strong team and Barca progress - with an exit after extra-time the worst-cast scenario - will United fans rue players not being rested for the cup final?
We want to know what you think. We know if you're a United fan you want big wins in both games, but if you had to pick one option right now - Europa progress or a cup final win - which would you take? Vote below...
