Erik ten Hag has downplayed Liverpool’s six-game winning run and insisted Manchester United are in the driving seat for Champions League football.
A month ago, the Reds’ top-four dream appeared over, with Jurgen Klopp’s side in eighth place and 12 points behind United. But a relentless run of victories has Liverpool fans believing the race is far from over.
Man United’s lead in fourth spot has been slashed to just one point but they do boast a game in hand over the Reds. Defeat to West Ham last weekend opened Liverpool’s window of opportunity further with just over two weeks of the season remaining.

However, Red Devils boss Ten Hag has dismissed Liverpool’s form - insisting it is “not important” as Champions League qualification remains in their hands. United are aiming to bounce back from the Hammers defeat against Wolverhampton Wanderers this weekend.
“It’s not important, we have it in our hands,” Ten Hag told reporters. “We have to bring our performance and then it’s not important.
“(What is) important is the opponent we face tomorrow - Wolves. We take them seriously. They have done a great job, so our focus is on that. We don’t think about other opponents.”
“Of course, we can ignore it (Liverpool’s form). It is not important. We have everything in our hands - we are not dependent on them, we are dependent on ourselves.”
