Erik ten Hag delivers verdict on Arsenal star Martin Odegaard ahead of crucial Man United clash

Arsenal welcome Manchester United to the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon in a huge Premier League clash at the top of the table.

Mikel Arteta's side currently sit on top of the table, five points ahead of second-placed Manchester City, who have played an extra match in the league this term. United are fourth in the standings, eight points behind the Gunners going into Sunday's match.

Erik ten Hag's side are the only team to beat Arsenal in the league this term, securing a 3-1 victory at Old Trafford back in September thanks to a goal from club-record signing Antony before a Marcus Rashford brace in the second half. However, the north Londoners boast an extremely good home record against the Red Devils in recent times, winning five of the last seven league clashes at the Emirates, with United winning just once in that time.

Now, Ten Hag has spoken about recent comparisons between midfielders Martin Odegaard and Bruno Fernandes, claiming that both players are much more than just playmakers considering how much they work off the ball. "They are two great players," the former Ajax boss told Sky Sports.

"So skilful and they score goals. They symbolise the modern footballer in their attitudes.

"They play good football and they know they have to work for the team, they are team players and use their abilities to make their team better so the individual skills are in the interests of the team. There is only one Messi, we saw that at the World Cup.

"The rest have to work and be part of a team."
