Erik ten Hag is to step up his plans for Manchester United after flying into London with assistant Mitchell van der Gaag. A deal is now in place for Van der Gaag to be confirmed as Ten Hag's No. 2 at Old Trafford and having been working remotely this week, the pair are now in the country.
Ten Hag and Van der Gaag are expected to hold more talks with United staff at the club's Mayfair office over the next couple of days. The duo signed off at Ajax after their final Eredivisie game last Sunday and opted out of the club's post-season trip to the Caribbean island of Curacao to focus on United.
They have been keen to allow interim manager Ralf Rangnick the space to continue overseeing first-team affairs and preparations for the final game of his reign this weekend, when United face Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

It's not yet clear if Ten Hag and Van der Gaag will be in attendance for that fixture.
They held a meeting in Amsterdam with football director John Murtough last Thursday, while Steve McClaren was also present and the 61-year-old is also expected to join Ten Hag's backroom staff.
The new United boss made it clear last weekend that his focus had shifted from Amsterdam to Manchester as soon as his commitments with Ajax had ended.
"From Monday, my focus will be on United, and I will, of course, get deep into things there," he said.
