Eric Dier arrives for Bayern Munich medical to seal £3.5m transfer from Tottenham

Eric Dier arrived at Bayern Munich on Thursday morning to complete a medical and seal a dream move to the Bundesliga champions from Tottenham.

Bayern have agreed a deal with Spurs to sign the 29-year-old centre-back, who is out of contract in north London at the end of the season, for a fee believed to be €4million (£3.4m).

He will join former Spurs team-mate Harry Kane in Bavaria following the England captain's £100m transfer in the summer.

Bayern agreed personal terms with Dier last week but the player continued to train at Hotspur Way while waiting for the green light from the German club, who explored a number of different options to strengthen defensively - including a late attempt to hijack Spurs' move for Genoa centre-back Radu Dragusin.

The 21-year-old Romanian opted to move to Spurs, however, and will sign a long-term contract on Thursday, effectively replacing Dier in the squad.

Dier joined Spurs from Sporting CP in a deal worth £4m in the summer of 2014 and, along with Ben Davies, was the longest-serving player in the club's current squad, making 364 appearances in total.

He has started just once since Ange Postecoglou was named head coach in the summer, however.

A video of Dier arriving at Bayern was circulating on social media on Thursday morning, with the player asked why he is joining the Bavarians.

"Amazing club, amazing," he told Florian Plettenberg of Sky in Germany.

Dier also said that he was "very much" looking forward to playing for Bayern and reuniting with Kane.

Meanwhile, Cristian Romero is back in full training and in contention for Spurs' visit to Manchester United on Sunday following a hamstring injury, but Giovani Lo Celso is expected to miss the game with a muscle issue sustained in the FA Cup win over Burnley last week.
