Epic Wheel of Fortune fail as US contestants can't solve very simple problem

Wheel of Fortune viewers were shocked when contestants struggled guessing the last word of a classic phrase.

'A feather in your cap' is an English idiomatic phrase that means an achievement or honour that someone can be proud of.

However, Tuesday's contestants weren't as well-versed in the phrase and couldn't correctly guess the right answer.

It took eight turns and 10 attempts to solve.

The woman in question, Laura, asked to solve the phrase and first guessed: "Another feather in your hat."

It then went to Christopher, who guessed a letter 'G' and then a 'D'.

When it went back to Laura, she guessed: "Another feather in your lap," and later guessed "map".

It wasn't until several minutes later that contestant Thomas, who missed a few rounds due to being 'bankrupt', guessed the correct answer.

The clip quickly went viral and both viewers and random social media users couldn't handle how long it took for the contestants to get the answer right.

"That lady needs some wordle in her life," one user joked while another said: "The next guess would have been “gap”!"

One shocked user said: "Is this f**king real life?!"

"Jesus these people are dumb...CAP! CAP! CAP!" one irritated user commented.

TodayInSports' Twitter account called it the "worst 2 minutes in the history of Wheel of Fortune."

Some people defended the game show contestants and said: "Only if you were born in the sixties or before would you have ever heard this saying."

"I guess she never heard the expression. Somehow," another added.

One fan said: "Good-natured laughter is one thing. Heck, they laughed at themselves. But, hey, cut them some slack. Unless you're there, you have no idea how different it is in the studio."

"I have fun with players and I tease them occasionally, but when things go wrong, I feel for them, and I try to salve the wounds on camera and off. So, yeah, it was an oddly entertaining puzzle and it’s okay to laugh at the situation. But have a little heart." he added.

It wasn't the only Wheel of Fortune fail this year.

On February 23, one contestant couldn't figure out a Jurassic Park phrase.

During a 'showbiz' category puzzle, the phrase 'Jurassic Park movies' came up.

However, one woman ended up guessing 'Jurassic Park bodies' instead. Viewers immediately laughed about it on Twitter.
