EOW- CB Jammu arrests two absconding criminal brothers wanted in 'incest rape case'

JAMMU: Economic Offences Wing, Crime Branch Jammu has arrested absconding criminal brothers involved in an incest rape and had been absconding for a long period of time since 2017.

"After arresting the accused involved in heinous crime, the duo has been handed over to Police Station Basohli for further proceedings as warranted under law," an official said.

Crime Branch spokesperson said, "The accused have been Identified namely as Bittu Singh and Kewal Krishan both sons of Bali Ram a resident of Nagali, Tehsil Basohli of district Kathua from Delhi and Surjan Mangyar, Bani, District Kathua in case FIR No. 30/2017 U/S 341, 376, 506/RPC P/S Basohli."

"Both the accused are involved in incest rape and had been absconding for a long period of time to evade their arrest,", he said.

The duo has been arrested after well coordinated and integrated efforts put in by a vigilant team of CB Jammu constituted for this purpose.

The Spokesperson said, "The case being heinous and that of immense public importance in nature was transferred to Crime Branch Jammu (Now Economic Offences Wing) for in-depth Investigation."

"After conducting the investigation substantial evidence was collected including FSL opinion and allegations levelled against the accused among 02 other co-accused persons were proved," crime branch spokesperson added.

Sharing the brief facts of the case, spokesperson said, "The case owes it origin to the complaint lodged by one Bali Ram son of Dewan Chand of village Nagali Tehsil Basohli of District Kathua with Police Station Basohli on allegation of rape."

"Charge sheet of the case was produced against the accused persons in the Court of law," he said.

He said, "However, a charge sheet against absconding Bittu Singh and Kewl Singh was produced U/S 512 Cr.PC as both of them were at large, evading their arrest by constantly changing locations both within the UT of J&K and outside UT."

"Incest rape accused – Bittu Singh and Kewal Singh after their arrest have been handed over to Police Station Basohli for further proceedings as warranted under law," he added.
