Entitled People Destroy Homeless Person’s Shelter, Gets Them Trapped For An Hour

Life can be unpredictable, no matter how much you try to plan it. Sometimes, things just happen, and there’s nothing else to do except to deal with in any way you can think of. For some, homelessness is one of these things. Sadly, people who become homeless for any reason (and there are plenty of those) tend to be horribly mistreated.

One of the best examples of this is today’s story. A homeless person’s shelter was destroyed by some random people for no apparent reason, and this resulted in the person being trapped for an hour.

Some people are just cruel without any proper reason

It took a whole hour for the person to get out of the shelter, which prompted them to come online to vent and wonder why someone would do that

The OP is a homeless person who lives in the woods in their makeshift shelter. One day, they heard some rustling outside their shelter, which was caused by the tarp being moved around.

The person shouted to ask who it was, what they wanted, and why they were there. And the answer to that was simple — they didn’t have anywhere to go. After that, the people outside pulled the wood that kept the upper tarp over the shelter, which caused it to collapse with the person inside it.

As these people were walking away, they let the person know that they did it as a “lesson.” It took an hour for the OP to move everything around and get out of the trap. This incident prompted them to go online to vent about how entitled some people are to destroy someone else’s shelter instead of letting them be.

At least people online were way more empathetic than those who destroyed the shelter. Some were not only empathetic but angry as well. They cursed these destroyers for acting the way they did. After all, making it worse for the person, who already doesn’t live in good conditions, is just a jerk-ish move.

It’s not entirely clear why the OP ended up living in their DIY shelter, as they didn’t specify that in their post. Well, there are plenty of various reasons why people end up homeless. It can range from unfortunate life events to unaffordable housing, unemployment, and poverty. It’s quite common for domestic violence victims to run away from their situations and become homeless in the process.

Being homeless comes with not only having a proper roof over your head but with other kinds of problems, too. For example, violence against them. More than 1 in 3 homeless people have experienced some kind of violence and have had things thrown at them. And that’s not the end of it — many homeless people experience other kinds of disrespect towards them. Like being urinated on, being sexually assaulted, and so on.

So, with this in mind, people should strive not to make it even harder for the homeless people but to help them. For instance, donating or volunteering at shelters can make a difference. Or if a person doesn’t have money or time to do that, simple kindness can also work. Acknowledging that homeless people are still people can be very meaningful to them. Simple eye contact, a smile, or even a brief conversation can brighten a person’s day and doesn’t cost that much money or time. Just don’t be a jerk, that’s all.

People online showed the person much-needed empathy and cursed the jerks who destroyed the shelter
