English investor buys former Edinburgh nightclub building for £2.75 million

Millfield Estates has acquired Venue Studios in Edinburgh for £2.75m.

The Bolton-based commercial property investor has bought the three upper floors of the building on Calton Road, which used to be home to nightclub The Venue.

Now a multi-let office building - refurbished in 2008 with 7,960 sq ft of space - Venue Studios sits opposite Edinburgh Waverley Station, with a roof terrace on the fourth floor.

Tenants include architects firm John Thompson & Partners, Salmon Scotland and The Big Partnership Group.

The acquisition takes Millfield's total property portfolio across the UK to 17, with this being its first foray into Scotland.

Paul Dobson, property director for Millfield Estates, said: “We have forged a proud reputation in England and it has long been our ambition to expand into Scotland, with Edinburgh a particular target.

“After several near misses we are pleased to have secured this excellent opportunity.”

Millfield Estates was represented on this purchase by JLL, while Knight Frank acted for the vendor.
