Sarina Wiegman moved to a 3-4-1-2 formation for their final group game against China and it worked wonders.
England ran out emphatic 6-1 winners, but against Nigeria in the last-16 the tactic came unstuck and the Lionesses won on penalties after 120 goalless minutes.
Wiegman into going back to her preferred 4-2-3-1 system. Such a set-up suits star midfielder Keira Walsh, who is back fully fit after recovering from a knee injury picked up against Denmark on July 28.
Toone would slot into her usual attacking midfield role in either case, with the decision affecting Rachel Daly and how high she plays on the left flank.
