England vs Switzerland prediction and odds: Phil Foden tipped to strike for Three Lions at Wembley

England preparations for the 2022 World Cup finals in Qatar start here.

The Three Lions rounded off their qualifying campaign with a resounding 10-0 success against San Marino but Switzerland will provide altogether stiffer opposition.

The hosts are 4/6 with Betfred to make it five successive victories over Switzerland since 2014, while Murat Yakin's side are 9/2 outsiders to silence the Wembley crowd on Saturday evening.

Gareth Southgate has mixed things up with his squad selection but it's unlikely that new faces like Crystal Palace's Tyrick Mitchell and Southampton’s Kyle Walker-Peters will get a great deal of game time.

Southgate isn't a manager that makes wholesale changes in friendlies so we can expect the majority of his starting eleven to be players that are either regular starters or who are on the fringe of the first team.

One such player is Man City's Phil Foden who looks bet material in the goalscorer markets on Saturday evening.

Like most of us, Southgate is a big admirer of Foden who is likely to be one of the Three Lions most important players over the next few years.

The City star has started England's last four matches and racked up four assists in just seven games for the Three Lions in 2021.

Foden is gradually becoming as integral to England's offensive unit as he is to Man City's and the 21-year-old is already into double figures (11) for his club this season, which is no mean effort given he has missed a chunk of the campaign through injury.

England vs Switzerland prediction

Friendlies are never the best betting mediums because we don't know selections plans.

Phil Foden has only scored twice for England so far but they were both at Wembley and his overall goal involvement has been good.

Given he might not last the whole game, it might be worth just backing Foden to score first at 6/1 with Betfred, but the 9/4 about him finding the net at any time still makes a fair bit of appeal so that's our wager.

Recommended bet: Phil Foden to score any time - 9/4 with Betfred
