England kept their Euro 2022 dream alive with a dramatic 2-1 extra-time victory over Spain to reach the semi-finals.
In their toughest test to date, the Lionesses struggled to find the form shown throughout their record-breaking group stage performances and conceded for the first time in the tournament, as Esther Gonzalez broke the deadlock shortly after the break.
Roared on by a raucous Amex Stadium crowd, England initially struggled for a response and looked set to be knocked out of the tournament at the quarter-final stage. But Ella Toone struck late on to equalise and send it to extra-time, where Georgia Stanway scored with a stunning long-range strike to send the Lionesses into the last four.
Next up for England will be a semi-final clash against either Sweden or Belgium on Tuesday night, with Sarina Wiegman’s side firm favourites to go all the way on home soil.
