Former England captain Nasser Hussain has delivered a withering assessment of their ten-wicket defeat to India in the first ODI at the Oval.
England were bowled out for just 110, thanks to a stunning performance from Jasprit Bumrah, who picked up 6-19 from his 7.2 overs. Mohammed Shami also impressed for India, taking 3-31, with four members of England's top six getting out for ducks.
India then comfortably chased down the 111 they needed to win without losing a wicket, with captain Rohit Sharma striking 76 and Shikhar Dhawan scoring 31. And Hussain described the match as "very one-sided", with England "just not at the races".
Speaking on Sky Sports , Hussain said: "That was just a walloping from first ball to the last really. India were far too good, with individual performances from Jasprit Bumrah and those openers.
"England were just not at the races. The toss was important, but not vital or crucial. A very one-sided game."
Former England batter Mark Butcher, meanwhile, said England will be "stung" by the defeat. "High quality stuff," he said.
"Long gone are the days where you can invite a side like India over, play them on a green seamer and our style of cricket outweighs their style. They've got players, bowlers in particular, for all seasons.
"You could even argue their batters are almost better at playing the moving ball than ours are – they showed that at times in Test cricket last year. It's going to be a great series. It's all set up, though England will be stung by this."
England will be hoping to bounce back almost immediately, with the second ODI set to take place in just two days time at Lord's.
