England footballer Harry Maguire has married his long-term partner Fern Hawkins at a low-key ceremony on Thursday.
The 29-year-old Manchester United ace reportedly left Carringdon training ground at midday before heading straight to the registry office.
Hawkins, who has been Maguire’s girlfriend for more than ten years, was said to be waiting at the registry office for her beau.
Dressed in a cream pant-suit and heels, Hawkins was pictured heading into the registry office before other guests including Maguire’s parents arrived.
The newlyweds will take their vows again in a more lavish ceremony this summer in France. according to The Mirror.
Thursday’s nuptials reportedly even came as a surprise to some of Maguire and Hawkin’s friends and family who were kept in the dark about the location of the ceremony until receiving a text earlier in the day.
“It was a closely guarded secret to all but their closest family and friends,” a source told the publication.
“They wanted to be officially married in the UK before they head to France.
“That will be a fairytale wedding day for Fern.”
Few details have been revealed about the upcoming ceremony in France but it is understood Maguire’s younger sister will act as bridesmaid.
Maguire’s England teammate Jordan Pickford and his wife Megan Davison are also reportedly attending the upcoming event in Burgundy.
The footballing ace met Hawkins when the pair were both 18 and he was playing for Sheffield United.
Their relationship has stood the test of time and the happy couple have since become parents to daughters Lillie Saint, three, and Piper Rose, two.
Hawkins and Maguire have been engaged since 2018 when the footballing legend whisked his partner to Paris to propose.
At the time, Hawkins wrote: “‘On Saturday night, Harry made me the happiest girl in the world & asked me to marry him in the most perfect way #ISAIDYES #TheFutureMrsMaguire #17thFebruary20.”
