England World Cup 2026 squad: Thomas Tuchel's latest squad ahead of the World Cup draw

England World Cup 2026 squad: Thomas Tuchel.

The England World Cup 2026 squad is beginning to take shape.

With the World Cup just around the corner, England were the first European nation to have qualified for Canada, the United States and Mexico – and there isn't long left to impress manager Thomas Tuchel.

Last month saw the return of Jude Bellingham to the fold and Myles Lewis-Skelly dropped, while Alex Scott was awarded a first call-up to the senior side in a similar-looking squad to those that Tuchel has been picking lately.

There could well be some big misses come next summer, though: Trent Alexander-Arnold hasn't played for his country since the defeat to Senegal over the summer, and neither has Kyle Walker, who may well have seen his international career end just four caps short of 100.

Conor Gallagher and Ivan Toney may well be out in the cold now, while Tino Livramento, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Curtis Jones will all have to prove themselves after recent opportunities.

A few others have certainly established themselves, however: Reece James looks set to continue as the first-choice right-back, Dan Burn is a valuable leader behind the scenes, while Morgan Rogers, Marcus Rashford and Eberechi Eze have all been given plenty of chances by Tuchel to show their worth.

Given that only a few stars look guaranteed for the squad, there will certainly be several shocks when Tuchel names his final selection next summer.

England manager: Thomas Tuchel

The former Mainz, Borussia Dortmund, PSG, Chelsea and Bayern Munich coach is trying his hand at international football for the first time with a reputation for burning briefly and brightly at the highest level of the club game.

Tuchel's latest squad continues a general preference for trusted players over in-form options.

His decision to overlook Adam Wharton and Jacob Murphy and a heavy Chelsea presence in his squad have drawn particular comment from England fans, as have the continued selection of 34 year olds Jordan Henderson and Kyle Walker.

England's star player

Harry Kane

The England skipper finally got his hands on the first trophy of his career last season, helping Bayern Munich to the Bundesliga title with a superb 26 goals and 10 assists in 31 league appearances.

Kane, who is ranked at no.1 in FourFourTwo's list of the best strikers in the world right now, has a massive part to play for England as he looks to tick off another major career milestone at next year's World Cup in Canada, Mexico and the USA.

With 105 caps and 71 goals to his name already for the Three Lions, and will be hoping to boost both tallies as Tuchel's side aim for their first World Cup triumph since 1966.
