Ovo Energy is giving thousands of new customers free cash if they switch from another supplier.
The energy supplier will be giving those who sign up £50 worth of credit into their energy account.
The £50 credit will be paid in two instalments with new customers receiving £25 when they first join and a further £25 after staying with Ovo for three months.
However, customers will have to be quick as the offer is only available to the first 15,000 who make the switch to pay their energy bills.
It is also only available for a limited amount of time with the offer finishing at the end of March.
The £50 credit can only be claimed by "brand new" Ovo customers which means those switching from different tariffs within the company cant get it.
Customers must also opt to pay their bills by monthly direct debit if they want to claim the credit.
This means those on a prepayment meter and those paying on receipt of bills are not able to claim the freebie.
Customers will also need to initiate the switch directly through Ovo's website and not through third-party price comparison websites.
Uswitch energy expert Natalie Mathie said it was "great" to see that energy suppliers once again start to offer incentives for customers to switch.
She said: “OVO Energy is the first supplier to offer a free credit incentive directly to consumers. This £50 free credit deal could be a good option for consumers looking to move energy suppliers."
Those switching will be signed up to Ovo's Standard Variable Tariff which is currently under the Government's Energy Price Guarantee (EPG) of £2,500 for the average household a year.
At the moment, the majority of energy companies are offering this rate to customers.
This is expected to change later on in the year as the price of wholesale gas has dropped, and will allow energy companies to start offering more competitive rates.
Ms Mathie added: “The good news is that you will not be locked into the deal, and although you need to stay with OVO for three months to receive the second instalment of £25 credit, there are no fees to switch away after that period."
"If suppliers start offering competitive fixed tariffs later in the year, you could still switch to a different deal if you think that is the best option for you.”
As energy prices are relatively similar at the moment if you are deciding to switch you may want to look into the customer service provided by the energy firm.
