The energy price cap went up on October 1. To ensure that billing is correct, it was advised that everyone should submit a meter reading for both their gas and electric energy accounts just as the new rates kick in.
Energy bills have been capped at £2,500 a year for a typical household - up from an average of £1,971 a year. The government's Energy Price Guarantee came into play on Saturday, October 1.
