Emmy Awards 2026: Viewing figures drop 10% to 6.7 million

  • Viewing figures for the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards fell by nearly 10 per cent year-on-year, drawing approximately 6.7 million viewers on NBC.
  • Apple TV comedy Widow's Bay won a record-breaking 14 awards, while The Pitt secured the best drama title for a second consecutive year.
  • The ceremony was moved to Monday evening to accommodate Sunday Night Football, placing it in direct competition with ESPN's Monday Night Football broadcast.
  • Despite the drop, viewing figures remained comfortably above the record low of 4.3 million recorded during the delayed January 2024 broadcast.
  • The Emmys continue to lag behind rival awards ceremonies such as the Oscars and Golden Globes, having last surpassed 10 million viewers in 2018.
