Emmerdale viewers have been left delighted as the ITV soap won Best Soap award at the British Soap Awards.
Britain's best soap stars all gathered for the award show for the first time in two-years due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
The glamorous red carpet event was hosted by Phillip Schofield as the biggest names from the soap world battled it out to win awards for their work over the past year.
Just minutes before the show started stars took to the red carpet as they showed off their full glam looks. Paige Sandhu looked glamorous in her plunge neckline sparkly dress. She finished the look off with floor length sleeves.
While actor Bradly Johnson looked unrecognisable as he ditched his signature glasses and wore a slick black suit. As the award show began Emmerdale was off to a slow start.
However, Marlon Dingle actor, Mark managed to take home Best Dramatic Performance while The Dingle family won Best Family and Meena was crowned Best Leading Performer.
But the award every soap was hoping to take home was the Best Soap award and ITV hit soap Emmerdale were left celebrating as they managed to win the all important award.
Fans were delighted to see the soap win the award as they went straight to Twitter to share their excitement. @entertain_matt Tweeted: “Yeaaaas #emmerdale @emmerdale @itv you deserve this so much great show always . Look forward to seeing you all at the NTA’s again this year congrats.”
While @TheYOLOArtist said: “Wow huge congratulations to the brilliant show that is @emmerdale on winning best soap at the @SoapAwards #SoapAwards2022 #BritishSoapAwards absolutely fantastic and very happy for you throughly deserved.”
