Emmerdale fans were left in tears at the end of tonight's episode, but not before spotting a funny nod to real-life current affairs. It was an emotional episode, as Faith prepared to say goodbye after deciding to stop her cancer treatment, but the Emmerdale producers still managed to pop in a humorous dig at Boris Johnson.
Fans took to Twitter after noticing that Faith, during her sentimental evening with Eric, said "them's the breaks" - words that prime minister, Boris Johnson, said during his resignation speech earlier today. It added a bit of light relief to an otherwise emotionally-heavy episode, although given the episode was filmed weeks in advance, seems highly likely to be coincidental.
Peta Fox said: "'Thems the breaks.' Says Faith. She’s not the only person to say that ridiculous line today!!" And @BListatCapital said: "Faith in Emmerdale just said ‘Thems the breaks’ … what is going on!!"

Sharon Forbes commented: "What a timely coincidence! Faith saying “them’s the breaks” in tonight’s #emmerdale episode", and Mark Fairhead said: "wow. May have been filmed months ago, but FaIth quotes Boris Johnson on the very day he says it in his resignation speech ‘Them’s the Breaks’. Marvellous."
Despite the funny coincidence, fans were still left devastated by the sad ending, which saw Faith and Cain watch a beautiful sunrise together. Though it was not the heartbreaking ending some fans had predicted, it was clear that this is the beginning of the end for Faith.
