Emmerdale viewers make plea to producers after 'distressing scenes' warning

Emmerdale viewers were left underwhelmed after tonight's episode which had a "distressing scenes" warning and have called on producers to remove two characters from the show.

It is not the first time that fans have voiced their discontent over the warning which prepared viewers for "scenes of distress which some viewers may find upsetting". Others also criticised the plotline involving David and Victoria with fans demanding the couple be axed from the soap following a "cringe scene in the field".

During tonight's episode, Victoria offered to sell her land for David to cover his debts. The couple can then be seen lying in the field while awkwardly reaching for each other's hands.

Viewers had plenty to say about the scene, with some joking that this must have been the reason for the disclaimer at the beginning of the episode.

Owen wrote on Twitter: "The distressing scenes must’ve been that cringey scene in the field with David and Victoria."

Garry Enfield queried: "Victoria and David laying on the grass, what are they doing."

Teena Massam said : "Most awkward laying in a field I’ve ever seen."

Others demanded bosses get rid of the couple altogether. Joe said: "When will the Emmerdale producers realise nobody wants David and Victoria scenes?

"The only time I want them in a scene is when Meena returns to handle them once and for all."

Roberto Diniro said: "David is pathetic and does my head in why should Victoria sell her land they not been together that long."

Michael Marshal said: "David & Victoria should bugger off."

At the end of the episode viewers were left wondering what the "distressing" scene actually was. One fan asked: "Errrrrr, where exactly were the upsetting scenes? I get it about Faith, but it was all a bit tame."

Another tweeted: "More distress in Emmerdale, Et must have spilt his latte down his strides."

A third said: "Yay! Scenes of distress is back!"

And Jordan Phelps wrote: "Emmerdale scenes of distress again… oh wait that’s every episode."

It comes after Emmerdale star Sally Dexter opened up about the emotional upcoming exit of her character Faith Dingle. The acting star, 62, has recently been seen in heart-breaking scenes as Faith Dingle battles terminal cancer.

Sally reportedly said her exit has been "‘tough" to film and that she will find it hard to say goodbye to her co-stars.
